The Halfway House, Petone, 32-bar strathspey devised by Elaine Laidlaw

The Halfway House, Petone was on the programme for the Carterton Scottish Country Dancing Club's annual dance on November 5, 2022. The Halfway House, Petone is included in the Wellington 60th Anniversary Collection, published by the Wellington Region of the New Zealand Branch of the RSCDS. The dance is named for the Community House in Petone, where Wellington Region committee meetings have been held for some time. This venue is roughly halfway between Waikanae and Carterton, the two most northern clubs in the region. The dance was held in Carterton, North Island, New Zealand. Live music was by Aileen Logie, Hilary Ferral and Jason Morris. The video shows just the final two times through. Devised by Elaine Laidlaw May 2019 The Community House in Britannia Street, Petone, has been the venue for Region Committee Meetings for a number of years. It would be difficult to find a suitable venue at the junction of State Highways 1 and 2. This would be almost equidistant between the two northernmost clubs, Waikanae and Carterton.
