Scottish Tradition : Dark Island iii - An t-Eilean Dorcha
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PjLOcp0RFY&feature=relmfu
Positively the last version of the Dark Island that I will post. It is from an album recorded c. 1965 Mary Sandeman had never spoken a word of Gaelic until she was in her twenties but went on to become very fluent and spent time in Uist to improve her Gaelic. A wonderfully versatile singer too!

A Scottish folk tune played on my Weltmeister four stop melodeon, accompanied by myself on Guitar and Tenor Ukulele. Photos of Castle Rock, a local geologic feature visible from my home ,on the east slopes of the North Cascades in Washington State

Photos d'Ecosse
A walk through some of the wilder parts of Sutherland and Assynt. Keep an eye open for Scourie dykes and an oar miles from the nearest boat! Scourie Hotel down in the village makes an excellent base for walking and hill loch fishing in the area. The tunes from the Forth Bridges Dance Band in this reel are The Peat Fire Flame, I Wish I Were Married and Johnnie Lad

A set of reels from the Forth Bridges Dance Band starting off with Miss Milligan then moving on to the Down Express and the Thurso Wedding. The scenery is provided by the area around Arkle, Loch Eilt (with the Jacobite steam train!) and Assynt respectively
Humours of Glendart, Scarce o' Tatties from the Forth Bridges Dance Band
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77V8t6zg3-k&feature=relmfu
A set of Irish jigs from the FBDB this time. These are great for a Strip the Willow at a ceilidh. The first is The Humours of Glendart, the last is Scarce o' Tatties, the middle one? - we would be delighted if you could provide a name! The scenes are from a variety of areas in Scotland and feature various burns and rivers. They are from within a mile of the north coast to a few miles from Braemar. How many localities do you recognise

Three reels here from the FBDB, The Island Spinning Song (aka Alastair o' the Dun), Puin' Bracken (Tha Mi Sgith) and Highland Donald ( "borrowed" for Donald Where's Yer Troosers?). The walk is over Beinn Ceannabeinne to the Kyle of Durness. The ceilidh band sound with Rhona's fine vocals ringing in the ears fairly puts a spring in your step
